"The Vocal Body" Workshop

March 29 and 30, 2025
in Lasalle in Cévennes (Gard-30)

Voice, singing, breathing and movement workshop, supported by the practice of WUTAO in co-animation with Jean-Baptiste Robert, Wutao teacher.

A course for all levels dedicated to Voice and Body, based on the Roy Hart Centre approach and supported by the practice of Wutao.
It is aimed at people who want to know their voice and body better for greater possibilities of expression and well-being in everyday life, at choristers and performing artists, at people who use their voice in their profession...

Vocal technique, Wutao practices, theatrical games, body practices, improvisation, polyphonic world songs.

The Vocal Body

Breathe, vocalize, speak and listen with your whole body, let yourself be crossed by the current of life and sing!
The involvement of the body in these exploration processes is fundamental
By awakening through the awareness that we offer it in movement or observation, each part of the body can then listen and sing, calling with all its voice the being to inhabit it more fully.

During these 2 days, we will offer you the opportunity to open up new fields of possibilities for the deployment of your breath, your body and your voice to take them into everyday life or on stage.
Group work, in a safe and supportive environment, with its playful and theatrical aspect, contributes to this process of opening and liberation.
You will be encouraged to let your intuition live and make your listening more available for improvisation and interpretation.
We will offer you a caring and sincere listening session to guide you in a personal exploration of your voice.

What is Wutao?

Wutao is a practice of bodily ecology, a contemporary art of returning to the living, to breath and to integral gesture, through the specific movements of Wutao.

In addition to pulmonary breathing, with Wutao we will encounter another, equally fundamental, breathing in our body: that of the tissues! By rediscovering this essential pulsation, we then gradually rehabilitate the Wave, vector of the deployment of vital energy, to accompany its diffusion throughout the entire body.

Wutao offers itself as a restorative path, inviting us to smooth out our corporality in order to inhabit it fully, and to taste the joyful feeling of ease, of fullness in an integral, sensitive and profoundly alive body.

To learn more, we invite you to visit the official website of the founders of Wutao

"(...)the ability to maintain a strong awareness of our whole body while producing vocal sounds can allow us to develop our ability to navigate complex situations in real life." (Roy Hart)

The speakers

Jean-Baptiste Robert

Teacher Wutao , photographer

Passionate about movement, breathing, research

of ease and fullness in body and mind,

Jean-Baptiste explores practices of Tensegrity and dance

and Systema. A real favorite, the discovery of

Wutao, in which he trained, marks a turning point in

the approach to the body then the enthusiasm to transmit,

with passion and pedagogy. The dimension of breath, essential to life, is fundamental to each of these disciplines.
"Nature, in which I like to recharge my batteries, greatly inspires my practice of Wutao. I am also interested in philosophy in the broad sense, in the Toltec Way of Carlos Castaneda, and in various metaphysics, particularly oriental ones (Advaita Vedanta, Kashmiri Shivaism, Zen & Dzogchen). Loving nature and sharing a contemplative and wonder-filled outlook, turned towards poetry as well as the sense of the mysterious, I am also a photographer (www.flickr.com/photos/jibz55).
Looking forward to making our bodies and minds breathe!”

Delphine Cam

Singer, songwriter, composer and teacher

of voice.

Author and composer, singer in concerts and

shows for over 20 years, I am also

voice teacher inspired by an intuitive practice

singing and the pedagogical approach of the Roy Hart Center.

The involvement of the body and movement in singing

is central in improvisation as in interpretation.

As a voice teacher, my work in educational support for groups or individual sessions aims to encourage the free expression of the voice and to open spaces of musicality in order to explore and express the unique vocal creative potential of each person in connection with movement and body awareness.

My attraction to rhythm, polyphony and world music influences my musical creativity and also directs my accompaniment towards the transmission of traditional songs and group improvisation.

I have always felt like a seeker on a path to freedom. Singing, dancing and meditation are for me precious spaces through which I meet and express the wild, loving and present being that I am. Accompanying other seekers through the "work" (I prefer to say exploration) of the voice fascinates me in this, a voice that frees itself is a miracle! A voice that loves itself is a miracle, encountering the joy emanating from this process is a grace!
